It’s no secret that I have a special place in my heart for JAFF stories written by Amy D’Orazio! This woman’s writing can make me laugh, cry, and swoon, all on the very same page. She brings her A-game to everything that she writes and I should know since I’ve read practically everything she’s written in the JAFF community.
It’s hard to pinpoint the exact reasons why her writing comes alive for me in that page-turning, heart-stopping way, but each and every time she puts her pen to paper, I know I am going to get lost in a world that will make my heart ache in all of the right places. She’s just that darn good!!
The first time I read A Short Period of Exquisite Felicity, I really wasn’t sure where this story was going and that’s EXACTLY how I like my JAFF; filled with true-to-canon characters that are written within a story that takes me on a long and winding journey that unfolds at a pitch-perfect pace. A Short Period of Exquisite Felicity held me captive until the very last few pages, and once the screen on my Kindle indicated that I had reached my final destination, my mind was left in a slightly disheveled state. And that’s EXACTLY how I love to feel once I finish a JAFF book!
Today I have invited Amy D’Orazio to share with us the cover for her upcoming book as well as her inspiration for writing A Short Period of Exquisite Felicity. Janeites will know just from the title of this book that even though this story is based on Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice, there’s a piece that’s inspired by Austen’s Persuasion,
Whose clearest and most prevalent theme is its characteristics as an autumnal tale; a tale of second chances and the deep and abiding happiness that they can bring. Book critic Caryn James writes that “Persuasion stands in Jane Austen’s career as The Winter’s Tale does in Shakespeare’s: it is a lyrical, autumnal story of lost love, with the unexpected reward of a happy ending. The dominant mood [of the novel] is autumnal, nostalgic, a sense of the most significant period of experience being in the past, recollectable but irretrievable and unrepeatable” (Tanner 112).
Are you ready to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a new release from Amy D’Orazio? I hope so because that’s the day this book is being released.

Are you ready to turn the curtain back on this cover reveal?
Is not the very meaning of love that it surpasses every objection against it?
Jilted. Never did Mr. Darcy imagine it could happen to him.
But it has, and by Elizabeth Bennet, the woman who first hated and rejected him but then came to love him—he believed—and agree to be his wife. Alas, it is a short-lived, ill-fated romance that ends nearly as soon as it has begun. No reason is given.
More than a year since he last saw her—a year of anger, confusion, and despair—he receives an invitation from the Bingleys to a house party at Netherfield. Darcy is first tempted to refuse, but with the understanding that Elizabeth will not attend, he decides to accept.
When a letter arrives, confirming Elizabeth’s intention to join them, Darcy resolves to meet her with indifference. He is determined that he will not demand answers to the questions that plague him. Elizabeth is also resolved to remain silent and hold fast to the secret behind her refusal. Once they are together, however, it proves difficult to deny the intense passion that still exists. Fury, grief, and profound love prove to be a combustible mixture. But will the secrets between them be their undoing?
Meet Amy D’Orazio:
Amy D’Orazio is a former breast cancer researcher and current stay at home mom who is addicted to Austen and Starbucks in about equal measures. While she adores Mr. Darcy, she is married to Mr. Bingley and their Pemberley is in Pittsburgh PA.
She has two daughters who are devoted to sports which require long practices and began writing her own stories as a way to pass the time she spent sitting in the lobbies of various gyms and studios. Check out this upcoming sale on Amy’s debut novel, The Best Part of Love! If I could give only one book my vote for the best JAFF story of 2017, it would be this book, hands down! I think you’ll see why once you read my review from last year, where I stated :
When you’re an avid reader, you find that some stories just seep into your soul and take on a life of their own as they become part of your fondest reading pleasures. For me, Amy D’Orazio’s The Best Part of Love is that kind of story. When I recently had the pleasure to read the version being published by Meryton Press, not only was the story a superb reread, I also experienced all of those same intense feelings that I had experienced the very first time that I read this story. It’s such an emotional read! My greatest hope is that many, many JAFF readers enjoy the same pleasures in reading this newly released story.
This debut novel by Mrs. D’Orazio is certain to be one of the best reading experiences that JAFF readers will have in 2017!
Have you already read The Best Part of Love? Well, this is the book that I am buying for all of my family and friends that I believe would love JAFF once they get their hands on this story. Whose on your list? I highly recommend you that you treat them to this book at this incredible price!!
