Today I would like to introduce a new JAFF podcast series that I had the pleasure of listening to this past weekend. After listening to the podcast, I knew my readers would love these podcasts as well! With much enthusiasm, I welcome Beau North to Just Jane 1813!
Hello again, readers of JustJane1813! I’d like to thank Claudine for giving me the opportunity to do the thing I love to do most, talk.
When this all started, I had a lot to say. Podcasting was not a new medium at that time, but similarly, to when I realized anyone could write Fan Fiction I realized anyone could have a podcast too! And talk about things! And Rhymes with Nerdy began. It was more of an excuse for me to connect with my friends and talk about what we would be talking about anyway…Downton Abbey, Marvel Movies, Video Games, Romance Novels. Hey, we contain multitudes. Of course, I learned quickly it helps if you actually have some degree of expertise on what you’re discussing, or no one will listen to you.
When I decided to publish Longbourn’s Songbird, my podcast fell by the wayside, and it’s been difficult picking it back up. At least until I started spending time lurking in some of the discussion groups out there on Facebook, Goodreads, and A Happy Assembly and realized I love talking about JAFF. And so do my peers!
There are so many talented voices out there, published, unpublished, self-published…and the world should know about them. I believe that there are those out there who hear the words “fan fiction” and will dismiss the genre out of turn. I want to shed light on how amazing it is! I want the world to know that fan fiction isn’t new, and that it deserves to be given its chance in the mainstream spotlight.
And so I’m introducing a five-part podcast miniseries, Rhymes With Nerdy’s The JAFFcast, available now on Rhymeswithnerdy.com, iTunes, and most mobile podcasting apps. My first episode is up now, wherein Linda Beutler and I discuss Joana Starnes’ lovely book, “The Unthinkable Triangle.”
In the coming weeks you will hear from seasoned authors and newcomers alike, about the books we enjoy and our thoughts on the industry and Austenmania on the rise in our current culture. We hope you’ll join us on this adventure!
If you have questions you’d like to hear on any of the upcoming episodes please write to rhymeswithnerdy@gmailcom . Thank you to Josh Hollis for the lovely image included in this post of Jane Austen.
