Good morning to my Just Jane 1813 readers and welcome to the big day! Get ready to travel back in time soon and learn about the big secret that Elizabeth and Darcy tried so hard to keep from everyone.
In a world filled with e-readers and tablets, book covers remain an essential part of a book. A book’s cover tells its own distinct story. Like the memorable faces we associate with our very own loved ones, a book cover leaves its own indelible image on the mind, and hopefully, on the heart of the prospective reader. In essence, it’s the face of the book that communicates to the reader what he/she is about to take part in.
Chip Kidd, the famous book designer, states that “A book cover is a distillation. It is a haiku, if you will, of the story. But once the book designer has read the text, then he has to be an interpreter and a translator.”
After reading “The Elizabeth Papers,” and viewing this cover, I can confidently state that the book designer did a spectacular job interpreting and translating how Elizabeth’s writings connect the two worlds that serve as the story’s settings. I would like to thank Meryton Press for offering me this amazing opportunity to share this cover reveal here on Just Jane 1813!
Here’s what Jenetta James shares with us about her upcoming book:
“It is settled between us already, that we are to be the happiest couple in the world.”
Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice
Charlie Haywood is a London-based private investigator who has made his own fortune—on his own terms. Charming, cynical, and promiscuous, he never expected to be attracted to Evie Pemberton, an emerging and independent-minded artist living with the aftermath of tragedy. But when he is hired to investigate her claims to a one hundred and fifty year old trust belonging to the eminent Darcy family, he is captivated.
Together they become entwined in a tale of love, loss, and mystery tracing back to the grand estate of Pemberley, home to Evie’s nineteenth century ancestors, Fitzwilliam and Elizabeth Darcy.
How could Evie know that in 1817 Elizabeth Darcy began a secret journal? What started as an account of a blissful life came to reflect a growing unease. Was the Darcy marriage perfect or was there betrayal and deception at its heart?
Can Evie and Charlie unearth the truth in the letters of Fitzwilliam Darcy or within the walls of present-day Pemberley? What are the elusive Elizabeth papers and why did Elizabeth herself want them destroyed?
Release date: Early June 2016
