This is one of my favorite posts of the year because I love sharing gift ideas for the Janeites in our lives. What a better way to celebrate than with a gift that Austen-lovers will cherish!
Please feel free to share these lovely gifts with anyone that you know who would enjoy these Austen-inspired treats! The gifts listed in red are also giveaways being hosted here for Just Jane 1813 readers as giveaways.
Janet Taylor’s yearly Jane Austen is a treat to behold for all and this year’s theme is 2017 Men in Film +2. The calendar includes lots of information about your favorite JAFF authors, and this year’s calendar is extra swoon-worthy with all of these Austen men starring in the calendar. Pick up yours today at Janet’s blog and get one for a friend! (Watermarks will not appear on the calendar images. The giveaway is for one 2017 calendar.)
Jane Austen’s England Travel Guide, A Kickstarter by Karin Quint is a Kickstarter campaign that is every Janeite’s dream come true, and it just reached its funding goal, so for everyone who supports this project, your pledges are going to be answered. I recently hosted Karin on my blog and I was immediately impressed with this travel guide, as I dream one day of planning my own Austenesque journey to England!
Why this travel book? That’s a great question! Jane Austen’s England is the first (and only!) travel guide devoted to exploring locations in England that have a unique connection with either Austen herself, her work, and/or the film and tv adaptations of her books. Now it is only available in Dutch. The book will be translated into English and an exclusive English edition will be printed that will not be available in bookstores or anywhere else. It’s simply a must-have for your own personal Austen pilgrimage! (The giveaway from Karin is for one travel guide, who thanks all of her amazing supporters for making this Kickstarter a reality!)
nancynikkodesign/ When I redesigned Just Jane 1813 this year, I knew what I wanted for my blog’s look and feel, but I didn’t know exactly how to achieve the look. Enter Nancy Nikko Design and you’ll see quite a few of the images that I purchased for use on my blog. Nancy’s one-of-a-kind art images are created by hand by her, and reflect her extensive travels around the globe. I love having her unique brand of artwork adorning my blog and if you love her style too, check out her Etsy store for Austen-inspired images, along with many others. Nancy specializes in personalized wedding favors, DIY wine stickers, Limoncello labels, realtor promotions for closing gifts, personalized bookplates, and unique stationery for interior designers, and client gifts. ($20.00 gift card giveaway)
FlowerLeafStudio There are hundreds of online stores that sell Austen-inspired jewelry, and after pouring over many of them, I found Flower Leaf Studio and their collection of Austen-inspired jewelry. Why do I love them? They are handcrafted by the owner herself and embody an approach to portrait painting that brings a natural feel to Austen’s characters. I asked her to make me a necklace with Darcy and Elizabeth on one side, and Jane Austen on the other side. For an additional cost, I chose the BBC image that I wanted my portrait to resemble with Flower Leaf’s signature style. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry that I can wear anywhere. At Flowerleaf Studio, you will find boho chic and vintage inspired jewelry and art with a modern twist: necklaces, earrings, bracelets, unisex necklaces with found items, as well as hand-crafted wood and brass rings and miniature art. (The giveaway is for the ring on the left side.)
Verbena Crafts- Inspired, hand poured scented wax melt bars I love taking a multi-sensory approach to enjoying my reading time. Playlists help me reconnect with favorite stories, Pinterest Boards help me enjoy wonderful eye-candy related to recent reads, and candles and scented warmers help me surround myself with aromas that connect me with my favorite characters. I have made a few mixes of my own to enjoy my own Darcylicious scents, but when I saw these new scents by Verbena Scents, I found a new pleasurable way to reconnect with my beloved characters from “Pride and Prejudice.” Be swept away to Regency England and seek love for your prize! All of your favorite Pride & Prejudice characters are here, including Mr. Darcy himself! We know you’re going to love these scents as much as we do. Make sure to check out the company website and subscribe to their newsletter for a 20% off coupon! ($20.00 gift card giveaway)
Rustico Sidekick Leather Cord Wrap As an avid reader, I always have a few ereaders at my fingertips. That also means I must also transport their accompanying chargers. When I saw this gift recommended in Chip and Joanna Gaines’ debut issue of Magnolia magazine, I knew this would be a gift that other readers would love too! Protect your e-gear in this roll-up case built for travel. Unrolled, you’ll have three cord slots and a pouch for power adaptors and thumb drives. Rolled up, you’ll have a precision-sewn, wrap tie bundle that fits comfortably inside any bag, and especially well inside any of our satchels or totes. Right now there’s a great gift certificate deal being offered throughout the holiday shopping season. I ordered one for almost every member of my family this year!
Printmeneer, Pride and Prejudice cookie cutter set These really are the gift that keeps giving. This year I was not only able to enjoy these as cookie cutters for consuming cookies, but also as cookie cutters for making these Jane Austen inspired gingerbread holiday decorations. These modern cookie cutters leave a clean edge and can be used with dough, fondant, and clay, just to name a few different materials. All cookie cutters are designed by Printmeneer and created using their self-built 3D printers. I have used these cookie cutters several times and I have never been disappointed with the results, and if you ever need to make Abraham Lincoln cookies for a school project, a little brown or black icing, and Darcy easily transforms into our nation’s 16th President. Talk about a good thing!
Pride + Prejudice + Zombies DVD A zombie outbreak has fallen upon the land in this reimagining of Jane Austen’s classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England. Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) is a master of martial arts and weaponry and the handsome Mr. Darcy (Sam Riley) is a fierce zombie killer, yet the epitome of upper-class prejudice. As the zombie outbreak intensifies, they must swallow their pride and join forces on the blood-soaked battlefield in order to conquer the undead once and for all. This wasn’t my cuppa tea, but lots of Austen fans enjoyed it more than I did, and at $6.00, this could make a well-loved stocking stuffer! (Giveaway is for one DVD.)
Mansfield Park: An Annotated Edition If you know anyone who’s been collecting this set of coffee table style annotated versions of Austen’s classics, this final publication in this series would make a lovely gift. I have the entire set, minus Emma on my coffee table and I love to dip in and out of these books to enjoy favorite passages and the gorgeous illustrations, which are enhanced by the historical references peppered throughout these volumes.
Crown Maple Syrup This isn’t exactly an Austen-inspired gift, but when I recently went shopping at my local Costco and happily discovered this delectable Bourbon Barrel Aged maple Syrup, I knew I’d find plenty of ways to enjoy this treat. As it turns out, Kate Bedlow’s story, “Beau Bon-Bon Christmas,” inspired me to whip up my own “Mrs. B” toasty hot coffee drink recipe, and before I knew it, this syrup was playing a starring role in my concoction. Whether you have it shipped to your home, or pick up a limited-edition bottle at your local Costco, I bet there are men and women in your life who’d love to receive this tasty surprise for the holidays!
