Good morning my lovely readers! Are you ready for a little voting fun to kick off this holiday weekend?
Ever since I learned last year that Robin Helm was writing a new Regency era story online titled, Understanding Elizabeth, I have been reading the story, which I really enjoyed from the first post until the very final post! I was so glad that I finally read a story by Robin and I instantly understood why so many readers enjoy her stories too.
I really wanted to share her cover reveal for this story and I was so excited when she asked me if I could not only host her reveal, but if I could ask my Just Jane 1813 readers to weigh in on the final cover selection!
To help you with this decision, I am sharing the book description here first, because I truly believe a beautiful cover sets the tone for a wonderful story!
Mr. Darcy is tempted beyond what he can endure when Elizabeth Bennet leaves her private journal entries in the parlour of Netherfield. Upon reading her writing, he is appalled to find that she overheard his unflattering remarks at the Meryton Assembly and despises him for his thoughtless comments. He wishes with all his heart that he could undo the damage.
During a restless sleep, he dreams of two powerful beings who can give him his heart’s desire – Elizabeth’s admiration, respect, and love.
Will he take the offer to change the past so that he never makes the offensive statement? Will he make a deal with the Devil, or is the price too dear?
What would you do to get exactly what you want? How much would you be willing to pay?
Not only are the covers beautiful, I have a little secret to share here about Elizabeth Bennet; she is Robin’s lovely daughter, Melanie.
Please join me in helping Robin decide which cover to include on the front cover of this book, which is expected to be released in the next two weeks. Here’s the first cover choice:
Here’s the second cover choice:
Isn’t Melanie a gorgeous Elizabeth Bennet? I believe these are both lovely choices for this story and we can’t wait to see what you think!!
If you’d like to make your vote official, please vote on this “Understanding Elizabeth” survey no later than 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 17th and the selected cover will be announced on this blog next week. There’s a giveaway too for an ebook of Understanding Elizabeth and every vote in the survey and comment on this blog enters you into the giveaway for this book, which the winner will receive once this book is released. The winner will be released on the day that the final cover is revealed.
If you’d like to offer your thoughts on the covers, feel free to comment on this blog post below in the comments section. We’d love to hear from you!!
Robin Helm taught English, Bible, and music for twenty-five years before she started to write her own books. She began by editing for other authors and publishing her own stories online on four different forums. She is presently employed as the Associate of Music and Music Academy Director for her church, and she teaches private piano lessons and elementary school music classes.
Mrs. Helm is the author of a modern Christian fantasy fiction series, The Guardian Trilogy, which includes Guardian, SoulFire, and Legacy. She has also published the Yours by Design series, a Regency/Modern Romance with a time switch. (What’s better than one Darcy? Two Darcys!) All three books of the series, Accidentally Yours, Sincerely Yours, and Forever Yours, are now available
She shares a blog, Jane Started It, with the other writers of the Crown Hill Writers’ Guild, and is one of the founders and administrators of BeyondAusten.com, a website for readers with common interests.
She and her husband have two married daughters, two granddaughters, and four family dogs.
Learn what readers are saying about Understanding Elizabeth…
“Kept me on the edge of my seat!”
“Another great book by Robin Helm.”
“Mr. Darcy has a wicked sense of humor, and he uses every bit of it to reel in Elizabeth.”
“I love this Elizabeth…strong, courageous, intelligent, loving, challenging, and beautiful.”
“I am drawn in by the descriptive way that Robin Helm writes. Her stories come to life in my mind much like a movie, and I find it entertaining to create my own sets, characters, and landscapes!”
“All I can say is, I wish I knew how to play chess.”
“The author doesn’t skip over what goes on in the very souls of people and how we all struggle with selfishness in our decisions about what is right and wrong. Ms. Helm delves into the inner being of Darcy, showing the way he learns to fight his baser nature in more than his feelings for Elizabeth.”
Thank you, Robin, for inviting my readers to participate in your final selection process for your upcoming book. I can’t wait to see what my Just Jane 1813 readers have to say about these covers too. I’d also like to give a shout-out to Damonza for the beautiful work on these two covers!
There were quite a few readers who were curious to learn more about Robin’s daughter, and her own Mr. Darcy; her husband, Dylan.
Robin mentioned in the comments that she’d love to ask Dylan to pose for the cover of her next book as Mr. Darcy himself. So, dear readers, we thought it would be fun to share some pictures of Melanie and her Mr. Darcy.
First is a picture of him signing autographs when he was a quarterback for the University of South Carolina. He proposed to her on the fifty-yard line at the Williams Brice Stadium in Columbia.
This is their wedding portrait. They certainly make a stunning couple. I hope Dylan considers Robin’s request, don’t you?
Don’t forget to vote for your favorite cover by noon tomorrow!
