Welcome to Just Jane 1813, an online community inspired by my passionate participation in the Jane Austen Fan Fiction community, as well as nearly all things related to the Jane Austen. What began in October 2015 as my desire to create an online community with a book club experience, actually started many years ago, when I discovered my great love for books and their unforgettable characters… First, as a little girl playing with my Sesame Street friends and then into actual books I could read on my own… Laura Ingalls Wilder’s journeys across early America with her family and friends and Eleanor of Aquitaine; a woman who was both the Queen of France and England throughout her lifetime, started my love of reading about strong female characters… So when I read “Pride and Prejudice” at 29 years of age, the foundation had already been set for me to become an ardent admirer of nearly everything related to Jane Austen.
It wasn’t until 2014 that I discovered the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction, after I stumbled upon it in a Pinterest post. I can only say that since then, I just haven’t looked back! In JAFF, I’ve discovered a way to live in Austen’s stories just a little bit longer than even she could’ve ever imagined possible, while connecting with a large variety of generous, inspiring and witty people along the way. It’s been the unplanned detour that I was quite unprepared for in my life!
Just Jane 1813 grew out of my desire to share my deep passion for JAFF and to meet other ardent admirers of Austen’s work. No one can replace Jane Austen; it’s really is that simple! Yet, what I believe we all hope to do is to live a little longer inside of her stories and connect with other readers through our love for all things related to Jane Austen. Sometimes people ask me why the focus of my blog is only related to Jane Austen. I can only answer by stating that it’s really “just Jane” who has inspired me in so many positive ways to continue my love of reading, further indulge my intellectual pursuits into history and literature, and continue to pursue my desires to help other women see the possibilities for their own lives.
To stay connected with Just Jane 1813 and receive my frequent book reviews and giveaways, please consider joining my mailing list at the sidebar to your left, like Just Jane 1813 on Facebook and follow me on Twitter. I enjoy reading and reviewing JAFF stories that explore a myriad of possibilities for Austen’s characters, as well stories that keep her characters’ personalities very much intact throughout the story.
I love finding new JAFF authors that I enjoy to share with my readers, especially since the JAFF community seems to grow daily by leaps and bounds! I also relish opportunities to learn more about Austen and her work from Austen scholars, and enjoy my participation in JASNA-NY, where I hope to become even more actively involved with in the near future.
It is my greatest hope that you love Just Jane 1813 as much as I do and that you drop me a line or two one day at firstname.lastname@example.org to say hello and share a bit of yourself with me. Always feel free to share with me what you’d like to see here because this is a place for all Janeites to enjoy, share and connect within the true Austen spirit! I am always open to considering a variety of posts for Just Jane 1813, so please feel free to contact me with suggestions, feedback and pointers.
